“ something alive “ is a graphic novel written by Jen Yoshioka. This text is about a young girl that looks like she is 18 or 19 because she is a young adult and she was born in a New Zealand hospital  all tho her grandmother was in japan but she moved to New Zealand and she hated it at first but she settled it in and called it home.When she is at school kids and teachers ask her questions about Japan but she doesn't no what the answers are. Kids tease her by purposely asking her question that doesn’t have the answer to. She feels guilty because she feels like she should know Japanese because her grammar is Japanese she goes home.
